All New Apocalypse

There’s a new print of Apocalypse Now which will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival which adds almost a full extra hour to the original cut, according to Reuters. Take cover… If you haven’t seen the stunning documentary Hearts Of Darkness about the making of AN and how it almost killed Coppola, make sure you check that out too. And while I’m at it, Joseph Conrad’s Heart Of Darkness which AN is loosely based on is also essential reading. Often cited as the first Modernist novel, Heart Of Darkness outlines with terrifying brevity the absolute corruption and destruction Europe wrought on Africa in the last few decades of the 19th century.
