Death Becomes Him
Tupac Shakur’s posthumous reputation continues to be milked with the release of Until The End Of Time , a collection of out-takes and unfinished tracks that’s been cobbled together. The Guardian has an interesting article which outlines 2Pac’s many contradictions and tries to explain why he’s become such an icon following his death. Don’t forget Spike’s own articles on Tupac and Death Row Records too.
On a lighter note, paid a visit yesterday to Mick Rock’s exhibition of classic, erm, rock photos , Blood And Glitter. It’s on at the Proud Gallery and it’s definitely worth seeing if you’re into Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop - or for that matter, just seeing some of the most iconic photos taken in the last 3 decades. There’s a fair few of the images on display on Mick Rock’s own site. There’s also a book, also called Blood And Glitter, available to accompany the exhibition, but bizarrely it doesn’t appear on Amazon at all. You can buy it direct at the gallery.
If you’re interested in photos, it’s worth paying a visit to Rankin’s extremely well laid out site. He did the pics of Irvine Welsh which have been recently added to irvinewelsh.com, among many other things.
