Back Again...

Apologies for the long silence here - I've been on holiday. And left in such a hurry I didn't get a chance to post something here to let you know. In a fit of enthusiasm, I did try to update the weblog when I was in Dahab, but technology and snorkelling conspired against me, so I didn't.

We've lost both Douglas Adams and Perry Como this weekend. Adams was particularly scary because it was so sudden - and he wasn't exactly old. 49.

New links: NinthArt is a new website dedicated to giving comics some serious critical appraisal rather than the usual fanboy stuff - it's run in part by Antony Johnston, who wrote the reviews of Neil Gaiman's Stardust and Alan Moore's Voice Of The Fire for Spike, among others. Antony also has his debut graphic novel, Frightening Curves, published in July by Cyberosia.

Sadgeezer's SadHOO Science Fiction Directory has recently linked to Spike's Links section - they've over 9000 entries in their directory, so if you're looking for sci-fi stuff it could be good starting point.

Literature Online For Schools does exactly what it says on the tin - a huge database of literary resources for schools. Unsurprisingly, institutions have to subscribe to get hold of the info, but if you're in education you might be in luck.

JustBooks, an up and coming site for tracking down out of print and rare books, has an interesting interview with John Martin, publisher of the Black Sparrow Press which was the literary home of Charles Bukowski.
