Sudan
Its at times like this when time stops that free speech and democracy start to mean something. And so, at times like this, one notices a uniformity of opinion in the corportate news media. Yesterday I heard a presenter on the BBC compare those who have tried to explain why the US is hated so much with those who deny the Holocaust.
Noam Chomsky, veteran campaigner and analyst, says in this article: The September 11 attacks were major atrocities. In terms of number of victims they do not reach the level of many others, for example, Clinton’s bombing of the Sudan with no credible pretext, destroying half its pharmaceutical supplies and probably killing tens of thousands of people (no one knows, because the US blocked an inquiry at the UN and no one cares to pursue it).
If this is true and he means the loss of a drugs supply to those who needed it to stay alive - doesnt it make you wonder why this didn’t “change the world”? Or maybe it did, and we’ve only just noticed.
