Visible Darkness

One of the best and best looking blogs is The Magnificent Melting Object. Lovely scans. Today it linked to another blog: Visible Darkness. On opening it, I was immediately encouraged by the homepages quotation from Canto 1 of Dantes Inferno, a new translation of which by Michael Palma, I am to review for Spike. Visible Darkness looks like another one to copy into the favourites/blogs folder. The latest entry links to a famous essay by Orwell and a less famous one by Thomas de Quincey. Interesting stuff about language. Theres also an homage to Walter Benjamin in the essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Destruction (a slight change on the originals title) that talks about September 11th. Benjamins essay discusses the loss of aura around a work of art, and what that might mean for culture and politics.

It looks like the blogger has a similar history to me: I went back to school, and started to seriously study literature. I found lots of dead friends. Yes. Hello friends! Why dont they answer?
