Loquacious liquor

Have just discovered this page on the BBC’s site that lists over 140 British euphemisms for being boozed up. What a marvellous usage for license fee money.

Recently found a copy of The F Book, which attempts to list every use of the word fuck in the English language. A true education. As Stephen Burgen writes in his masterful international history of swearing, Your Mother’s Tongue, “‘Fuck’ is the English word par excellence, enlisted to serve as any and every part of speech. Is there any other language in which it’s possible to constuct a sentence such as “Fuck me, I’m fucked if I fucking know what to fucking do, the fucking fucker’s fucking fucked up and fucked off”, which, whilst it is semantic rubbish, is capable of being understood?”.

It’s a sentence I often utter in the aftermath of solicitors and plumbers.
