The Godfather of Flesh The new Lucian Freud Ex…

The Godfather of Flesh

The new Lucian Freud Exhibition opened at the Tate is his biggest exhibition yet. I just hope this one measures up to his last major retrospective at the Whitechapel in London’s East End. I found this small personal space to be perfect for these very intimate paintings. I love Freud’s images, heavy with their corporeality. The white fleshy obeseness of Leigh Bowery’s portraits will stay with me forever. I just hope the space at Tate Britain isn’t too cold and lifeless for these fleshy painting.

I’d like to recommend a decent book on Freud, but as yet there isn’t a really good book on him written yet. It’s a shame - I just hope we don’t have to wait for him to die before someone does him justice.
