Howells of Derision

Written by:Stephen Mitchelmore.

Dr Kim Howells, a government minister for Culture, who went to art college in the 1960s, attacks the Turner Prize by nailing his critique, Martin Luther style, to a noticeboard in the gallery. He calls the art on display “cold, mechanical, conceptual bullshit”, later adding “What we need are some real rebels and some real revolutionaries to blow them out of the water.” This from a member of New Labour!

One suspects the note will fetch a price.
