Hyde Park Review of Books
In September, I complained that the Hyde Park Review of Books hadnt updated as promised. Finally, after admitting to staff shortages and promising an update for last month, the editor has unveiled a series of new articles and reviews. Though it fails to include the promised review that I wanted to read, it does feature two reviews and one essay on three of my favourite authors: Gert Hofmann, Peter Handke and WG Sebald. There’s also many other reviews of authors of whom I’ve not read yet. Stephen Dixon’s novel I (that is indeed the title) looks particularly interesting, although it’s not available through Amazon UK - well, it has the hateful label: “Limited Availability”.
The editor also promises Unibrow, a “twice weekly” blog “featuring links to the best of book culture online and links to the best poetry and fiction from online publications”. Sounds great. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait so long for it.
