Since I’ve left England, I’ve worked my way through David Bowie: Strange Fascination (compulsory for Bowie fans), the second volume of Kershaw’s Hitler biography, 1936 – 45: Nemesis (compelling), JG Ballard’s The Day Of Creation (archetypal Ballard, this time in Africa). Irvine Welsh’s Porno (more of the same, only better). Victoria Coren and Charlie Skelton’s account of making a porn film Once More, With Feeling (gentle but unsentimental look at the porn industry) and am now current dealing with Andrew Loog Oldham’s Stoned and Alan Gurney’s The Race To The White Continent. I’d forgotten how good it is to be able to read uninterrupted by anything else.
