Through the Barren Landscape of Nothingness

Written by:Stephen Mitchelmore.

Michael Roloff’s bonkers site dedicated to Germany’s greatest living writer, Peter Handke (you’re most likely to know him as the writer of the movie Wings of Desire), includes the first (to my knowledge) English language review of his latest novel Der Bildverlust oder Durch die Sierra de Gredos (The Loss of Images, or Through the Sierra de Gredos). I don’t get much sense of the book’s contents. But it is being translated, all 759 pages; so, thanks be given to Krishna Winston.

PS As “Anonymous” pointed out, Handke is Austrian. I meant German’s greatest living writer… honestly.
