Other blogs blog
Today, In Writing, my other blog, kept for my highbrow literary utterances, was updated twice. I write about Walter Benjamin and Dale Peck. An odd couple if ever there was one. Meanwhile Lars Iyer’s blog quotes my favourite passage from Kafka’s Diaries, not counting “Two pints and a caramel yogurt please”, which was the note to Kafka’s Dairies.
Also, I was shocked that my offhand blog last night drew attention from the recipient of the link! Mark of ConservativeZone responds with friendly fire, which is nice.
Today he tells us “I was told several years ago that American politics are (sic) divided 40/20/40. The 40% on the left would vote for any Democrat candidate, even if it was Stalin. The 40% on the right would vote for any Republican candidate, even Hitler.”
What does he mean if!?
Wasn’t it Gore Vidal who said that the US is a one-party state, but, being America, it has two of them?
I wonder what he makes of Chomsky’s claim that “No president [since 1945], judged on the principles of Nuremberg, would have escaped hanging”? That includes even the most liberal, that nice Jimmy Carter for example.
