Not Fonzie

Written by:Stephen Mitchelmore.

I wish someone had told me. Well, they did, but too late. Channel 4 is showing a number of Beckett plays from the Beckett on Film series. Unfortunately, it is being shown more or less unadvertised and in the morning, specifically for schools. So, already this week we’ve missed Endgame and Atom Egoyan’s version of Krapp’s Last Tape, the latter having been cancelled when the Queen Mother died. Wasn’t that years ago? They’re still to reschedule it. Perhaps they can’t find a place for it between the property shows and sensationalist drivel that passes for “drama” nowadays (Sex and the City, Shameless, No Angels, etc). (And aren’t we due for another royal funeral - with the emphasis on fun?).

Anyway, now that I know, I can set the video for Happy Days and Footfalls, which are due to be shown on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
