Paid To Blog
After bloggingnetwork.com (now known as BlogIt) comes another site aiming to pay people to blog:
“Dogmanet.org aims to bring the best bits of the best blogs together.
We want you to send us your best, most original, insightful, concise and pithy blog entries for us to publish at the end of each month in a publication that aims to have a longer shelflife and wider distribution, possibly including being printed on actual paper!
Of course you’ll get full credits and links but we also believe that bloggers and all other indepedent thinkers and writers should have the chance to earn a living from their work, so we will pay our contributors - first only a small amount, but more eventually.”
This is all good, and Dogmanet is certainly an interesting collection, but does anyone actually read them? Does anyone pay to read the blogs at bloggingnetwork.com? I subscribed briefly to the latter and then let my sub expire because the content, whilst interesting, wasn’t indispensable. Even something like Belle De Jour, which is a fabulous and fabulously well-written blog, isn’t something I’d pay to read in blog format. I’d pay for a book collecting the blog together though. I’m curious to know what others think of paying to read blogs, or indeed any content, online. what have you paid for and what would you pay for - besides porn?
