Why I haven’t written any of my books, part 94
Stephany at Maud tells of Haruki Murakami’s writing regime.
When Im in writing mode for a novel, I get up at 4:00 am and work for five to six hours. In the afternoon, I run for 10km or swim for 1500m (or do both), then I read a bit and listen to some music. I go to bed at 9:00 pm. I keep to this routine every day without variation.
Wow. I love reading this type of stuff. When I’m in that mode, I leave my writing desk and go to work at 9:00, get home at 18:00 and sit in a daze at the same writing desk for a few hours before going to bed again. It’s a routine I keep up without variation too.
I haven’t read anything by Murakami yet. I found The Wind-up Bird Chronicle for 30p in a charity shop on my lunch break last week. But I had no change, so I popped back 10 mins later with a handful of coppers, by which time it had shut for its own lunch break.
