Christopher Hitchens on what Czeslaw Milosz can tell us about Islam. All very pertinent I'm sure. Also pertinent, particularly for families in Iraq, is that, as far as I'm aware, Milosz didn't advocate 1) supporting Soviet Communism until it out-lasted its usefulness, 2) ignoring the implications of that support, 3) decimating its civilan population through sanctions and random bombing of peasants herding livestock and 4) invading and killing tens of thousands more.

Maybe there's a poem or essay I've missed ...
