Paper heavyweights
Two new reviews of The Plot Against America. JM Coetzee's in the NYRB is simply magnificent. And then there's Michael Wood's in the LRB, which I have only scanned. But Wood is as good a critic as his more famous surnamesake.
Compare and contrast both with Johann Hari's shallow, politically-driven reading in The Independent. We can only hope this is the first and only review in which the reviewer discusses the state of his bowels in the course of his (in this case) literary excretions.
