Street Fighting Men
A great counterpoint to Ben’s interview with the authors of the anti-fascist memoir No Retreat is this article by Nick Ryan. “Street Fighting Men” is a detailed article about the fascist group Combat 18 and the eventual imprisonment of its leader for murder.
Ryan has also written the widely praised book Homeland which recounts his six years spent amongst extreme right groups. There’s a synopsis and extracts on his site and you can find it on Amazon, natch. Me want.
There are plenty of other fascinating articles on Mr Ryan’s site too - I originally found it through a posting on Boing Boing about modern day Thai pirates who eavesdrop on satellite-based mobile phone calls. It’s not Johnny Depp, that’s for sure.
