Bring Me New Music

Written by:Chris Mitchell.

Stumbled across two great music sites - Anti, which seems to be doing the publicity for half my favourite acts - Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Tricky, Eddie Izzard - and has a clutch of free MP3s and videos to download. Nice. Beautifully put together site too. There’s also SoundsXP, billing itself as an alternative music webzine with a large collection of reviews of bands I’ve never heard of. Just what I was looking for. Writing quality is variable but there are gems, like this description of the aforementioned Mr Waits: “Tom Waits always sounds like himself. That’s not to say he always sounds the same. It’s just that he’s created his own genre of music (basically a drunken Louis Armstrong staggering around a junkyard)…”
