Volunteer work in Thailand

I've been hard at work for the last six weeks on the new website for Starfish Ventures, a small British company that places volunteers in Thailand to take part in a variety of projects, like teaching Thai schoolkids English and helping with the conservation of turtles, sadly an endangered species these days. It went live earlier today so if you have any interest in volunteer work or going to Thailand, do have a look and please help by passing on the web address. Starfish is run by my good friend Dan Moore, who ensures the volunteers are properly looked after whilst in Thailand with the help of his Thai girlfriend June. It's a fantastic way to get to experience Thailand beyond the tourist resorts, and June ensures that volunteers pick up enough Thai to feel like a local. It's also a great way to get acclimatised to Thailand and build up confidence to strike out and explore the rest of the country. As I've said on scattered, the best thing people can do for the tsunami stricken countries is not be put off going there on holiday. With Starfish, you can help by being on vacation and making a difference through your volunteer work.

I've also recently written a piece about Starfish for The Nation, Thailand's English language daily newspaper. You can read it here.
