BookBoost.com: cheap, effective web design for writers

Finally I've got round to launching BookBoost.com, dedicated to putting together cheap, effective websites for writers. It's basically a formalisation of what I've been doing anyway - I thought I might as well create a site and see if it will help other writers find me. I'm also putting together a book promotion publicity package to help authors promote a new book across the Web, and figuring out how to write a quick guide of stuff authors can do themselves to help promote their work.

The onus for book promotion does fall squarely on the shoulders of authors these days. This recent article in the Baltimore Sun shows how publishers simply are not making any meaningful effort at all to get the word out about their new titles. So unless authors take on that responsibility, their books are going to disappear without trace. (Thanks to Bookslut for the link).

A lot of authors already have a nifty, self-administered web presence, like Richard Beard or Martin Millar. But a lot more haven't got the time and inclination to set up and manage their own site - which is where BookBoost.com comes in. Given I know a fair bit about books and a fair bit about websites, and I've put together several websites for authors already, I think I can provide a knowledgable service that can provide a site without costing a fortune - and provide a site that actually works for the author in terms of promoting their work.

It's quite exciting. I wonder if it will work. I hope so. You can email me if you're interested in a website of your own.
