More melody makers
It’s going to be a fine summer, musically at least. At the end of May, Smog releases its quietly perfect new LP A river ain’t too much to love and, a month later, Laura Cantrell gives us her third: Humming By The Flowered Vine . Both fine titles, the latter reminding me of the bright summer of infatuation evoked in Within a Budding Grove, in which Marcel holidays in Balbec and meets the gang of girls including Albertine.
I heard first both Smog and Laura Cantrell on the Peel show. So it’s nice to see that a friend has posted an image of the rather moving tribute to the man on the pub where I saw Laura C play a wonderful gig a couple of years ago.
