‘Bring me the head of Bin Laden’

Written by:Chris Mitchell.

BBC News: “The CIA sent a team to Afghanistan days after 9/11 with orders to kill Osama Bin Laden and bring back his head, a former agent has revealed. Gary Schroen flew out soon after the attacks on New York and Washington, helping to set up the 2001 invasion, he told US National Public Radio.” Jawdropping account of the CIA’s deadly serious edict. I’d like to read Schroen’s memoir, First In, when it comes out later this month. Having already served time in Kabul and Islamabad, he might have a valuable insight into the US operations over there. But given his surprise that Bin Laden hasn’t been caught, I’m not sure he’ll be analysing his superiors’ motives or methods to any great degree.
