Splinters Redesign
Those of you reading this on the actual website will notice Splinters has undergone a rejig. I've introduced a new column to the right to showcase the huge amount of material that's across Spike. 200+ book reviews, 60+ interviews, 50+ features, 30+ music reviews, travel articles, new writing - there's stacks of the stuff. Each time the page loads, a different set of links is randomly loaded. There's also the new "recently" link list at the top of the side column and the "most popular" list of the Top 10 Spike articles at the bottom of the main column.
The reason for this is pretty simple. Spike has grown to monsterous proportions now and getting around the site has become pretty messy. A lot of people come to Spike, read a particular page and then go again, because there's nothing to entice them to read other pages. So this is a way to hopefully encourage more exploration. I still need to rejig the spike template proper to accommodate these changes, but this is a start.
