Handsworth Riots – Twenty Summers On

From OOM Gallery: "This September marks the 20th anniversary of the Handsworth Riots of 1985. A chilling series of events that scarred a community and the rest of Britain, it also left long lasting memories that many still find difficult to erase.

Birmingham Film maker/ Photographer Pogus Caesar was there throughout the riots and captured numerous memorable images. The stark black and white photographs provide a rare insight into the raw emotion, heartbreak, devastation and violence that erupted during those few fateful days in September 1985. This is an online exhibition as part of Black History Month 2005." Visit OOM Gallery to see the images.
