John Battelle: The Search – full review
Another new addition to Spike - my review of John Battelle's The Search. Easily consumed during my flight to the UK, Battelle's book is as good as I expected - a great recapping of the search engine wars, Google's audacious arrival and subsequent dominance, all wrapped up in the all important idea that the importance of internet search goes way beyond individual companies and astronomical stock prices. Internet search is changing our own culture and access to information, and Battelle nails why internet search, which is still in its infancy, is set to produce profound changes in how we live across the board - and indeed, in ways we probably can't even imagine.
