JGBallard.com Reloaded
Inspired by the excellent Ballardian.com, I've given JGBallard.com a makeover - still the same set of links but a lot easier on the eye and now with constantly updating feeds from Google Blogsearch and Google News that present Ballard related stuff. I see the feeds as a complement rather than a replacement for the link list - most of the items in the feeds are periphery mentions of Ballard rather than in-depth articles. The gems can be extracted and added to the main link list. I've rehacked the link list so I can update it thru Blogger and that also means there's an RSS feed for new items on the site. I also opted to try out a 1000 pixel width design, following on from A List Apart's recent redesign - if your monitor is not set at 1024 x 728, you're going to have to scroll sideways, but it should still look OK. Now to find the time to do the same to the other author sites...
The feeds stuff is interesting - it would be easy to install them on each Spike page so that they provide constant summaries of new items relating to the author, musician etc who's the page's subject. It's a simple way to add lots more usefulness to each page and keep it fresh.
