Charlotte Raven, described as "a former editor of the Modern Review", asks the question at the beginning a chatty 1600 word piece about a book also asking - and indeed entitled - Is It Just Me Or Is Everything Shit?. It is the main review in this week's New Statesman, one of our more intelligent publications.
The equivalent in the Los Angeles Times is an inspired 1500 word review by Jack Miles of John Banville's The Sea. It is quite evident that he is not a former editor of the Modern Review.
