Macmillan New Writing: The New Publishing Deal?
Spike contributor Ian Hocking has written a dangerously coherent think piece about Macmillan’s New Writing publishing program over on his own blog. (He’s just reviewed the first book published by Macmillan New Writing here on Spike too - Roger Morris’ Taking Comfort). Ian expresses some worthwhile reservations from a writer’s point of view, and gets some excellent responses from other MNW authors in his blog post’s comments. Definitely worth reading if you’re weighing up the nature of this new publishing model. I wrote a distinctly unimpressed take on MNW in May 2005.
