Sad news of the death of Grant McLennan, mainstay of wonderful Aussie band The Go-Betweens. Spring Rain, Head Full Of Steam, Streets of Your Town, Right Here and my favourite Bye Bye Pride (something about the oboe) – all great songs, each having a curious mix of joy and melancholy. One thing I always remember is that each LP title had a double L in it (until they reformed in 2000) and how an old German friend pronounced their name: The Go Bet Weens.

Spring Rain is a great song, but Forster wrote it.
I never said GM wrote it did I? I couldn’t find any writing credits but he was part of the band wasn’t he?
