Stick The Knife in
I'm a bit of a premature fogie happily stuck in my punk and/or indie rut and I can't usually be doing with much of this "dancing music" malarkey. I do make the odd exception though, and here's one very odd exception indeed. "We Share Our Mother's Health" by The Knife is a shocking piece, in the best sense, both aurally and visually. I couldn't believe either my eyes or ears when I saw it on VH2 the other week. Looks like it cost about ten pounds to make, but has more of an impact than any Holywood horor I've seen lately. What's it getting at? The African AIDS crisis? Abortion? An eerie amalgam of both? How should I know? Deeply creepy, very silly, and utterly hypnotic.
But then, it's not the only jaw-dropping and shocking piece of musical art produced lately. "Finglas" by the mighty Spiral, late of Big Brother, heroically flies its mast to compete for the title of worst song ever recorded. Keep it ruyl!
