Irvine Welsh on the South Bank Show
Cor blimey, the South Bank Show, which can have shit periods of, well, years to be firm but fair, is on a bit of a roll at the moment. Following the fine interview with J G Ballard a couple of weeks back, there was a very good one with Irvine Welsh last Sunday too. Irvine’s latest has had a bit of a critical panning, but as I said here don’t let that put you off in itself. Welsh was compelling here talking about how his background formed his literary vision. I thought so anyway.
Aparently you can get the podcast of it here, but as Chris in the post below says you seem to need access to UKNova.com to get it to work. If a technical whiz like Mr Mitchell is having difficulty, what hope we lesser mortals? What are you thinking of Melvyn?

Erm, that’s not quite right Ben. The podcast is nothing to do with UKNova.
UKNova rip South Bank Shows and other UK programs not commerically available and make them available as BitTorrents. I’m downloading the Irvine Welsh one as I type. The only tricky bit is getting membership to UKNova - you have to keep refreshing their login page until it lets you sign up. (They have a max amount of users). Once over that hump, the rest is easy.
