Jon Savage takes an interesting look here at the parallel lives of Joe Orton, Brian Epstein and Joe Meek, and how public villification of homosexuality in 50s and 60s Britian caused each one horrendous troubles in differing ways. The good old days eh?
Update: There's an Arena documentary tomorrow (Monday 3rd Sept) about Orton on BBC4 at 10:40pm, with docus about Epstein and Meek later in the week.....

Okay, I’m talking to myself, 1st sign of madness ha ha ha HA but what a fucking tremendous documentary the Orton thingie was. I didn’t realise it was going to be from 1982, although it was immediately obvious when it started. I’d never seen the exact nature of the “library vandalism” Orton and Halliwell did before, and I fair pissed my sides. Brilliant.
