Aung San Suu Kyi - the French biography

Written by:Chris Mitchell.

Over on Travelhappy, I just posted a quick writeup of a French language biography of Aung San Suu Kyi - Le Jasmine Ou La Lune. Unfortunately I can’t read French well enough to understand it in the native language, but I’m hoping by giving it a little more publicity it’ll find its way a bit quicker into English translation.

Previously I did a rundown of Burma book recommendations

I can also definitely recommend Justin Wintle’s biography Perfect Hostage, which does a solid job of outlining the origins of Suu Kyi’s rise to leadership of the NLF and subsequent incarceration.

Timely. Here’s hoping her side wins this time round.
