Atwood on Dystopia
There was a decent article by Margaret Atwood on dystopian fiction in the Guardian just gone. Some of the observations are a bit pedestrian but its a decent overview nonetheless.
It's a subject and genre which endlessly fascinates me, as with my old review of London's Iron Heel. I do sometimes wonder though if it's a bit of an unhealthy addiction, and a slice of cold turkey may be in order. Perhaps my next year's reading resolution should be:- no more Fascists, Stalinists, test tubes, cryogenics or sly allegories for the duration. Could I cope?!
