I have studied many of the WWII genre movies in my school in Argentina, and was greatly impressed with Empire of the Sun. Not solely is the movie a masterpiece, but his book (of which I am not quite finished) is as well. His brilliant depiction of “Jim” simply astounded me. Also, his depiction of expatriate life is both shameful, yet true. Even in expatriate life now in Buenos Aires (not solely British, but American, Canadian, German, French etc.) there are unfortunate truths embedded in his portrayal.

My Question:
Do you believe that your description of the internment camps was significantly clouded by your age?
Also, how did fellow children your age act when faced in similar circumstances; especially in the movie, “Jim” is shown to mainly interact with adults.
