The Toad Work/Routes out of Nowhere
So, the new year finally really gets going proper for us wage slaves. Shit isn’t it? No, I mean really. If I could convincingly reproduce in text the sound Sideshow Bob makes after he’s accidentally stepped on a rake, I would. Anyway, in a vain attempt to save your sanity for a few moments, here’s a list of web based mags you may not have read before, and which maybe, just maybe, you should:-
Transmission - A Manchester based zine dedicated to the promotion of the short story form
Anotherealm – "Short Speculative fiction for the new Millenium"
Stylus Magazine – Very decent music and movies mag
Dissent – Always interesting voice of the independent American Left, going since the 50s. Recent reproduction of an old article from former contributor Normal Mailer following his recentish death.
Cult Cargo – Scouse based cultural zine which started very promisingly a bit of a year ago with articles on everything from Nico to Louis Celine, but then seemed to stall around April 2007. Will they rise again?
FluxEuropa – Another defunct zine, officially so this time, this is devoted to "Dark Music and More". I'm not too bothered about the music, but the "more", literature and film based, steeped in a strange mixture of modernism and Satanism, and featuring Wyndham Lewis and Jack London, is, well, it's interesting I think.
That’ll do for now. Use your wit as a pitchfork and drive the brute off.

Ah, since writing that I see that along with Cult Cargo and FluxEuropa, Stylus Magazine is now an ex-active website too. Why do the good have to die young?
